AIRBUS has teamed up with Careers Wales to bring the theory of plane-making to life for budding engineers.
The Flying Start Challenge aims to provide young people in North East Wales with hands-on experience of engineering.

Youngsters learn about the principles of flight and develop skills to plan, design and build a hand-held glider.

This year a total of 36 children, aged 13-14, from nine schools from Flintshire and North East Wales took part in the two-day event.

The challenge was judged in three categories and each team had a second-year Airbus apprentice on hand to help out.

Airbus Broughton's education partnership manager Steve Edwards said: "This year we have doubled the number of children participating, it has been a resounding success and we hope to build upon this for next year".

The winning school was St David's College, Llandudno.
