A WOMAN remains seriously ill in hospital today after a smash on the A55.
As the Leader reported yesterday, the 43-year-old suffered serious head injuries after her car was involved in a collision with a van.

The incident took place near the expressway's Caerwys junction, and emergency services were called at 2.53am yesterday.

The female driver of the car was rushed to Glan Clwyd hospital in a critical condition.

The road was closed in both directions following the accident, but the westbound carriageway was later re-opened.

Investigation work was carried out at the scene, meaning the eastbound carriageway remained closed until about 9.45am yesterday.

Anyone who can help provide information on the collision should contact North Wales Police on 0845 607 1001 (Welsh language line) or 0845 607 1002 (English language line).
