JENNY Booth, a tissue viability nurse at the Countess of Chester Hospital, has returned from America where she carried out a wound care scholarship.
VAC Therapy has been used at the Countess for 10 years and the NHS Foundation Trust has invested almost £50,000 into buying VAC therapy machines which have proved to be revolutionary in treating healing wounds.

The therapy applies controlled, localised pressure to the wound bed and promotes faster healing. It has been used effectively in treating thousands of wounds in all care settings since 1993.

The venue for the scholarship was San Antonio, Texas, at the global headquarters of KCI, manufacturer of VAC machines, where Jenny had a chance to develop her skills and share experiences with leading US experts. presentations.

The scholarship was open to all tissue viability nurses throughout the UK, and as one of only six scholarships awarded, Jenny was the only nurse representing the North of England.

Jenny said: "It was a fantastic experience and a wonderful opportunity which enabled me to network both with colleagues in the UK and USA."
