A PROPERTY expert from Chirk has devised a scheme designed to help kick start the flagging housing market.
Ray Hughes, a director of Timby Construction, said it would be relatively easy to breathe fresh life into the housing sector with the building of individual homes.

He said: "Many households in the UK have land that could easily provide a single ho
me for the son or daughter.

"The individual build will probably require some changes to present planning policies and procedures, but will enable a house building programme to proceed.

"The government regularly tells us that we need more homes, and in the present and future climate this is certainly a way forward."

Mr Hughes said his proposals would give an affordable solution for the son or daughter of a householder as they would not have to pay a large price for land.

"It will also provide a home that will accommodate a family for life, rather than buying one of the many properties today that are too small to build a family."

Mr Hughes said a further programme that should receive major consideration is for an individual granny flat – two bedroom single storey – helping solve problems for the elderly.

"Many families throughout the UK would welcome this idea as it would provide much needed homes for the young family, but above all retain the family concept without a burden on the state purse

"It seems in many areas of the UK the only real industry is tourism that can provide much needed investment for jobs, etc.

"At this time we also have the opportunity to have a build programme of self- catering cabins in the hillside that would allow the farming industry to diversify.

"Each of these programmes will provide a solution for the manufacturers, suppliers and many tradesmen that are being laid off or made redundant."

Great idea...except Government will not agree to it and if they did local planners would put too many obstacles in the way for it to work.
This country suffers badly from planners and there opinions together with the ever growing mountain of useless red tape.
