TWO couples from Deeside were left amazed after they spotted an unidentified object in the sky on Boxing Day.
Kelly Dawson had stepped outside her home on Boxing Day with friend Leanne Newby when they spotted a "flaming orange ball" hurtling towards them in the sky.

Kelly, of Sandy Way in Connah's Quay, said she had never seen anything like it before and is appealing to anyone else in the area who may have seen the "phenomenal sight", to get in touch with the Evening Leader.

Kelly, 24 said: "We were both outside and I looked up and asked Leanne what she thought it was.

"It was as high as a plane would be in the sky but it was moving towards us at some pace.

"It was about the size of a single traffic light and it was bright orange and looked like it was on fire, but there was absolutely no noise coming from it.

"I shouted for my husband Ian, and Leanne's husband, Lee, to come out to see what we were shouting about.

"We all stood back in astonishment – it was an amazing sight.

"It came closer and closer and then it flew over the house.

"We all ran around the back of the house to see where it had gone, but by that time it had disappeared."

Kelly reported the sighting to the police.

After researching on the internet, Kelly is confident that the sighting was of a UFO and not a meteorite.

"It didn't have a tail and it looked very similar to what other people have seen and from what I have seen from video evidence on the internet," said mum-of-one, Kelly.

"People have also said that when it was passing over their homes, it interfered with the electrics in their house.

"Our satellite broadcast TV went off six or seven times when this happened – so I am convinced that this was something from outer space!"

"This is the first time I have seen anything like this and it really has changed my opinion on UFOs and similar things.

"Before this sighting, I was quite sceptical about this kind of thing, but now I am convinced there is something out there."

The sighting comes after a number of reports of strange lights in the sky above Mynydd Isa on Christmas Day, and similar sightings across the region over the past year.

If you saw the orange lights above Connah's Quay or anywhere else in the area, email your stories to digitalnews@nwn.co.uk

Let's be realistic. The Connah's Quay witnesses did see a UFO. They saw an Unidentified Flying Object. That doesn't make it an alien craft. In retrospect it doesn't not make it one. Regardless of what it was and where it was from, it was a UFO.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. The Connah's Quay sighting was no more an alien craft than it wasn't. The anti UFO nit-pickers on this forum should demonstrate to the witnesses how what they saw WAS NOT ALIEN. But they will not because, they can no more claim it wasn't as I can claim it was.

If the witnesses to this event want to advance matters regardless of the conclusion, they should contact Conwy UFO Group. It may help to clarify matters one way or the other.

Incidentally, the guy who runs CUFOG has just had his Freedom of Information request to North Wales Police refused. Rumour has it, that the force has just been hit with an appeal against its refusal to identify certain Police Officers involved in the 1974 Berwyn Mountain UFO incident. It is claimed they don't hold the information despite the Group having possession of Police documents identifying some and, a retired officer actually appearing on the Channel 5 program about Britain's Closest UFO Encounters shown in Summer talking about his involvement. How ludicrous and corrupt is that? NWP refused point blank to answer some questions. It wouldn't even lie or dodge the issue with some pathetic excuse.

Quite frankly, I'd rather have my 4p to 5p in the pound income tax back, which is spent by officialdom in this country collating, classifying and secreting away information on those UFOs which are alien. Yes readers, your Government or rather the faceless ones behind the scenes could help out in the recession by putting more money in our pockets by not funding a cover up. Believe in aliens or not, you are paying for them.

As for Chinese Sky Lanterns. Well, what can I say? I know this much. More sightings in the UK were blamed on such lanter

It seems my posting above was cut short. I'll continue.

....More sightings in the UK last year were blamed on such lanterns than were sold. It is convenient for the authorities to blame these lanterns for everything unusual in the sky.

Few people ever come forward and admit to releasing lanterns and where is the debris?

Following Christmas, New Year and Guy Fawkes, you can find spent fireworks/rockets everywhere. Lanterns are almost non existent. The truth is, that volume is just not released.

As for the farmer in Padeswood who miraculously found three lanterns on his farm following a week of sightings of waves of UFOs over Wrexham, again, what can I say.

He was contacted by Conwy UFO Group but refused persistently to allow inspection of the lanterns or be interviewed. Now that is suspicious. In fact, more suspicious was the fact that it is impossible for two lanterns after travelling miles to come down yards apart. For three, mind boggling. Yet, this farmer managed it.

After investigation, it seems that that Padeswood incident was the first recorded case in the UK of a deliberate planting of lanterns to subvert and debunk UFOs sighted by many people.

Without the cooperation of the farmer, that is the only conclusion which can be drawn. As it stands, the whereabouts of the lanterns is unknown. It doesn't take a genius to realize that the evidence has probably vanished by now.
