But many postmasters and staff were kept in the dark about the decision until the Leader told them this morning.

"That's typical, we have to wait for the news like everyone else, we have two workers here," she added.
The Post Office announced its decision this morning on the future of all branches across North Wales, following a seven week public consultation.
During this time, it received around 1,450 responses and representatives attended 47 meetings.
"The decision has now been made to retain a total of 271 branches across North Wales, and to proceed with 48 of the closures and 13 of the replacement outreach services in the Area Plan Proposal," said a Post Office spokesman.
"Following discussions with Postwatch, the independent consumer body, Post Office Limited has decided not to proceed with the proposed closure of the Cerrigydrudion branch," he added.
The Llanfwrog Post Office is currently in the process of a further review.
Consumer Focus (previously Postwatch) welcomed the decision to save the Cerrigydrudion branch, but blasted the other closures.
"We opposed the closures proposal on the basis that customers would have been excessively inconvenienced were this closure to proceed," said a spokeswoman for the group.
An outraged Clywd South MP Martyn Jones said: "The decision to close all nine post offices considered for consultation in my constituency is simply ridiculous.
"I cannot believe that this result has come from any form of genuine consultation.
"The Post Office had a fortnight to consider the heartfelt views of many of my constituents, who expressed themselves eloquently on many of the forms I reviewed.
"They have chosen to ignore the thoughts and feelings of local people," he added.
Labour AM Karen Sinclair added: "News that the closure programme is to proceed in Clwyd South as planned is disgraceful news.
"Not one of the post office closures in the constituency that was objected to by the community and myself was reversed.
"I was very disappointed at the timing of the consultation carried out by the Post Office.
"It was an illogical time to engage with local groups about the closures given the fact that many people were preparing to go on their summer holidays," she added.
Clwyd West MP David Jones said: "I am naturally disappointed that the consequence of the Government's post office closure programme is that Clwyd West will lose seven offices.
"But I am relieved that Cerrigydrudion post office is to be spared," he added.
