Flintshire Council tenants struggling to pay their rent are resorting to using their credit cards, according to research by the Liberal Democrats.
Figures obtained by the party show that in Flintshire, £184,801 of rent has been paid on credit cards in the last five years.
Flintshire Council said it did offer tenants the facility of making rent payments using credit cards, but a spokesman added: "It is not recommended for everyone and its usage is somewhat limited."
A Liberal Democrat housing spokesman called the figures "disturbing."
