Flint Elvis impersonator hangs up his guitar after 30 years

A POPULAR Elvis Presley impersonator and stage performer who has dedicated his life to entertainment is retiring after 30 years.
Jason Starr, from Flint, has been a regular fixture in the town's pubs and clubs, impersonating the likes of Elvis Presley, since the 1970s.
But now the musician, impersonator and all-round entertainer says his gig at Flint Catholic Club on Saturday, September 20 will be his last.
The artist, who dresses up as Elvis Presley and other stars for his one-man show, says his decision is due to falling attendances.
He said: "People just aren't bothered anymore. In the early days the clubs were always packed but everyone seems to be going off it now – you either get criticised or people don't turn up at all.
"Plus I'm 59 now so I'm getting a bit old for it. I've been doing this for so many years now, raising money for charity, but it's getting harder and harder to draw people in.
"I think it's time to give up the charity work now and I'm going to focus more on my work with the church.
"It will be sad to leave it all behind but I think it's time to move on."
Tickets for Jason's swansong performance later this month cost £5, with proceeds going to the NSPCC.
But it's all bad news for Jason's fans – he will still be performing with Mold-based performance group Buzz-Ah and hasn't ruled out a dramatic Elvis-style comeback at some point in the future.
