On Monday, the Leader reported on the sighting, made by Harry Hughes of Mynydd Isa as he was going out to the shed on Christmas Day.

Mr Hughes saw several orange-red orbs moving "faster than a plane" through the air, and glowing in the night sky. The incident matched a sighting over Wrexham last year.

We published the story of the latest incident on our website, and visitors have flocked to view the details.

User rduke222 says he saw a similar incident over his home in San Diego, California, and believes he may have an explanation.

He wrote: "My wife and I saw four orange glowing objects just after midnight this morning (New Year's Eve), which had the same characteristics described in this article.

"They approached from the east and departed to the west. My impression was that they were the exhaust from propulsion. These objects were at great altitude and appeared to follow a flight test corridor that passes over San Diego from the Edwards AFB area.

"These objects were not meteors or falling 'space junk.' It is likely that they were 'Black Project' aircraft that had just taken off from the Edwards AFB (or Area 51) area and were already very high and going very fast. We could not hear any sound from these objects but that is not surprising if they were as high up and moving as fast as I believe they were."

Hey there...
I'm a taxi driver in Chester..and on New years day at around 1.30 am whilst in Stocks Lane Boughton.
. I saw two orange lights travelling from the north wales direction heading towards the direction of Nantwich.

they were exactly like the ones your readers have described. they appeared separately about a minute behind each other.

The lights were just like orange orbs.. and moved very differently than any conventional aircraft.
Two of my passengers got out of my car with me and we watched the lights for around 5 minutes. Then they just disappeared. what was very unusually was that they both followed the exact flight path as each other.
I worked in the aviation industry for many years in airports all over the world and lots of times at night so I know what aircraft look like at night....both commerical and military.

These lights were not from any type of aircraft Ive ever seen.
The only other explanation is that they are black project aircraft...if not then there totally unexplainable.
Kind regards
J

The New Year Day UFO sightings. I saw these and filmed them. I counted 8 in a line about 30 seconds apart and they took exactly the same flight path over a period approx half an hour into new years day. I thought they might be chinese lanterns but realised there was absoulutely no wind and yet they travelled fast without any wobble. There was no noise and any fireworks had ceased by then. Eventually each one climbed rapidly and went south.
