The 43-year-old was walking along Stryt Isa, Penyffordd, with her two children, when she called to the driver of a passing car to slow down.
The car ground to a halt, the driver got out and punched the woman in her ribcage, before he got back in t
he car and drove off.
The woman was left shocked and shaken by the incident, which happened on Tuesday night.
Penyffordd councillor Cindy Hinds, said: "It is absolutely disgusting. I cannot believe a driver would do this – people should have more respect.
"Stryt Isa is a very narrow lane and you cannot walk along it if someone is driving fast in a car. It is really dangerous. This lady could have been knocked down and I feel heartily sorry for her.
"We're working hard to trying to get the speed limit on some of the smaller roads in the village reduced, because people drive far too fast.
"Motorists should have more respect when they are driving and I hope the man responsible for this incident is brought before a court."
North Wales Police are now appealing for witnesses to help them trace the motorist.
A spokesman said: "He is described as being in his late 20s or early 30s, with short blond hair. It is also believed his front teeth were missing.
"He was driving a small, dark coloured vehicle."
