THE families of young apprentices from a Flintshire papermill were taken on a tour of the site.
Before getting to grips with their apprenticeship, the new recruits and employees of UPM in Shotton were able to tour the mill's new renewable energy boiler. They were also shown how the mill recycles 700,000 tonnes of paper a year and met some of the colleagues they will be working with over the next four years of their apprenticeship.
David Ingham, vice president and general manager, said: "We are really pleased to welcome the apprentices and their families to the mill to learn more about their future working life at UPM Shotton."
UPM Shotton's apprenticeship is also offered in automation, process engineering and lasts for four years.
The scheme is run in conjunction with Deeside College.
