THE world famous Fron Male Voice Choir teamed up with entertainment legend Rolf Harris in front of an audience of Chelsea Pensioners at the London launch of the new single and album.
The Fron Choir and Rolf Harris treated the Chelsea Pensioners to a rare and intimate gig yesterday to launch the single Two Little Boys to promote awareness of the 90th Anniversary of the Armistice.
The single features on the choir's third album Voices of the Valley: Home, released the same day.
Having recently joined forces with the multi-talented Australian entertainer, to re-record his Christmas number one hit from 1969, it is fitting that the man himself took part in the performance. Rolf is donating all his royalties from the single to the Poppy Appeal. Rolf had been investigating his family history for last night's BBC One documentary, My Family At War. It was when Rolf discovered that his father and uncle had fought closely alongside each other in the First World War that he was hit by the significance of the emotive lyrics of Two Little Boys, the song which put Rolf firmly on the UK's musical map nearly 40 years ago.
With an average age of 67, many of the choir members remember the original version Rolf recorded and never imagined they would actually sing it with the man himself.
This is yet another milestone in the choir's recording career, since being discovered at a wedding by pop svengali and former Blue manager, Daniel Glatman, and going on to release an album which reached the Top 10 of the pop charts.
The choir itself was established in the aftermath of the Second World War to promote community spirit, and some choir members even fought in that war, so the performance was extremely moving for both the choir and the audience.
Rolf Harris and the Fron Choir perform together today at '90th Anniversary: Silence in the Square' in London's Trafalgar Square between 9.30am and 11am.
The single, Two Little Boys, and album, Voices of the Valley: Home, are out now.
