A DEVASTATED family has spoken of its distress after a Flintshire grave was targeted by heartless vandals for the second time in six months.
In September, the Evening Leader reported that a crystal "Lap Indea" paperweight had been stolen from Peter Grosvenor-Davies' grave at the Bryn Road cemetery in Connah's Quay.

His family had bought the paperweight back from Spain to lay on the grave.

Daughter Michelle Griffiths, her mother Catherine Grosvenor-Davies and granddaughter Catherine, seven, discovered the paperweight was missing when they visited the cemetery to lay fresh flowers, but were "overwhelmed" when their appeal in the Evening Leader saw the return of the paperweight to the grave.

However, when Mr Grosvenor-Davies' son Andrew visited from London and called at the cemetery he found that his father's grave was in a "complete mess".

Mrs Griffiths has now raised questions about security at the cemetery and has called for CCTV to be installed, although Flintshire Council said it was not aware of any specific problems at Connah's Quay.

A council spokesman said: "The cemeteries service has been made aware by Mrs Griffiths of the damage to the ornament on her father's grave at Connah's Quay cemetery.

"This appears to be an isolated incident and no other incidents have been reported. CCTV is not installed at the cemetery but may be considered in the future.

"If anyone is concerned about the behaviour of individuals or groups at any of the council's cemeteries they can either inform North Wales Police or contact the cemeteries service on 01352 703360."
