OFFICERS from North Wales police have introduced graffiti boards to help curb vandalism in hotspot areas in Flintshire.
Among the first to try them out were teenagers Alice Collins and Danielle Gabriel, who were joined by PCSO Martin Rowlands in Holywell.

The concept has been developed by local community beat manager Catherine McHarrie and the local Neighbourhood Watch organisation.

The graffiti boards will go up in three "hotspot" areas that have suffered excessive graffiti. It is hoped that graffiti will now be applied on the boards and not on the walls of buildings.

If the scheme is successful then there will be competitions held throughout the year for the best graffiti.

Delyn MP David Hanson, who was at the launch, said: "Unauthorised graffiti is criminal damage and can blight our communities and I welcome this new an innovative scheme to help deal with the issue.

"These boards will give people an opportunity to express themselves through art, without defacing our town centres."
