Group's hunt for the perfect pint of Guinness in Denbighshire

WHEN a trip to the homeland of Guinness didn't do enough to wet a group of friends' taste for the dark stuff, they decided to uncover the best place for a pint in Denbighshire.
And the first ever Llandyrnog and District Guinness Tour was born.
The group of 16 who took part organised five pubs to visit, and were given a warm welcome by each pub who put on nibbles for the team - perhaps in a bid to win them over.
The group kept score cards in each pub, marking out of five for hospitality, taste of the Guinness, how well it was poured and the stickiness of the pint to the glass, which is said to be a good indicator of a perfect Guinness.
Sheeren Lunt and John Harvey were the main organisers of the Guinness tasting event and hired a minibus to get them safely to each location.
"We would like to thank everyone at the pubs for getting involved and supplying us with food. We have now decided to make it an annual event!" said Sheeren.
The pubs visited were along the M76 route: the Golden Lion in Llangynhafal, The Griffin in Llanbedr, Three Pigeons in Graigsechan, White Horse in Llanfair DC and the Golden Lion in Llandynog.
A trophy was presented to the winning pub, The Golden Lion in Llangynhafal, who won with 202 points. The Griffin came second with 197 and in third place was The White Horse with 163 points.
