Earlier this week, the Evening Leader reported that staff at the Party Shop in Mold, Flintshire, had switched their ghoulish zombie off after receiving complaints that he was scaring children.
The Flintshire shop wanted to find out what the public thought, and asked the Evening Leader to put it to an online vote.
Scores of readers cast their vote here at
www.eveningleader.co.uk and the results are in with 78 per cent of people saying Harry should definitely stay.
Only 22 per cent thought Harry was too terrifying.
Shop owner Helen Perry said she was delighted Harry has been spared the axe.
She said: "People have been coming into the shop all week, saying how much they like Harry and it would be ridiculous if we had to turn him off. I think it's the right decision."
Several readers left comments on our website supporting Harry.
Lee Silvester, from Connah's Quay, said: "I love the zombie.
"I think more people should make an effort like Helen for these annual occasions. Those who complain need to remember what life is all about, they should cheer up."
Sue Mulhearn, from Mold, said: "Halloween only comes around once a year, why should people moan?
"If some parents don't like it they know what to do – cross to the other side of the road.
"Personally, I think it's great. More shops should take an interest."
Bryan Wilde said: "It's only a bit of harmless fun. Children these days see much more scary things."
