A Flintshire beauty queen - aged 84 - has been crowned at the opening of a new community room in Bagillt, near Holywell.
Civic leaders joined residents at Trem Afon Hall in Bagillt's Boot End for the launch of a new community room.
The friendship group in the village meets regularly at the centre but needed a new space.
An £800 makeover took place, supported by Communities First in Holywell, and included a new lick of paint, furniture and carpets.
Communities First is encouraging representatives from various organisations to visit the group, which has between 35 and 40 members, more often.
Vera Davey, from Communities First, said: "It will make a massive difference because in the past, the centre has never been able to offer confidential services.
"Now, they will have the chance to use the other room to talk to people from the organisations such as the neighbourhood wardens and the community beat manager in confidence.
"The group have worked extremely hard to get to this day."
Bagillt councillor Mike Reece said: "It's absolutely great that it's back open again and it's a very good day for the group."
The first ever Trem Afon senior citizen queen, Betty Dean 84, was crowned and was joined by Delyn AM Sandy Mewies, committee members, Freda Howard and Pauleen King and Delyn MP David Hanson.
Mr Hanson said: "I was pleased to officially open the new community room at Trem Afon.
"The Friendship Club and other residents of Boot End will be able to make good use of this facility."
