A MAN jailed for the murder of a Llangollen couple has had his sentence extended for trying to bribe the prison governor.
Venezuelan Jorge Real Sierra is serving a 59-year sentence in Spain for the kidnapping and murder of Linda and Anthony O'Malley, killed after a househunting trip near Benidorm on the Costa Blanca in 2002.
Real Sierra, 58, was jailed in an Alicante court in May 2006 along with his brother-in-law Jose Antonio Valazquez Gonzalez. He now faces another year behind bars after being found guilty of trying to bribe the governor with £1,320.
He admitted trying to bribe Alicante's prison director while awaiting trial for the couple's murder. He sent a book by Uruguayan author Mario Bendetti to governor Jaime Hernandez in November 2005, six months before the trial.
A panel of judges at Alicante Palace of Justice was told inside the book was an envelope containing 2,000 Euros, then worth £1,320.
