Spirit Quest UK is holding the special five-hour event at the Hand Hotel, Llangollen, on October 31, and members of the public are invited.

Over the years, a huge variety of public figures – everyone from Winston Churchill to Audrey Hepburn – have stayed at the hotel and the famous Ladies of Llangollen, who lived at nearby Plas Newydd, used to rent a coach from the premises.

According to ghost hunters, one of the guest rooms is haunted by the spirit of a lady who died in childbirth.

In addition, a figure has often been seen sitting at an organ in the hotel.

Many of the rooms are also thought to be haunted. Guests have often had the feeling that someone is following them only to turn around and find no one there.

During its last investigation at the Hand, the group experienced voices, cold spots, someone had their hair pulled, and a person looking into a mirror saw another face staring back. But perhaps the most remarkable piece of evidence collected has only just come to light.

Kathleen Hughes who is a senior investigator with Spirit Quest, said: "We were looking at footage of the last investigation at The Hand and during spirit communication using a glass, we suddenly noticed that one of the arms holding the glass seems to be transparent in the sense that you can see the table through it. Its unbelievable. We just have to go back."

Spirit Quest UK's director of paranormal research, Howard Hughes, has examined the video and can find no explanation for the transparent arm.

He said: "It really is a fantastic piece of footage and is one of the reasons why we have decided to go back.

"Halloween usually does mean an increase in paranormal activity.

"It dates from ancient Celtic times when it was thought that the barriers that separate our world from the spirit world were lowered and we have found that our Halloween investigations yield some amazing results so the Hand Hotel should be a real unforgettable experience."
