THE origins of Welsh culture and identity are set to be explored on a new free course in Wrexham which looks at Celtic life and history.
The history department at the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI) is running the two day Introduction to Celtic Studies course at its Plas Coch Campus on Saturday, June 21 and Saturday, June 28. Those attending will have the chance
to gain an insight into Celtic society, language and culture, as well as being given access to original historical sources and up-to-date research.

Dr Kathryn Ellis, senior lecturer in history at NEWI, said: "The course will appeal to those with a general interest in topics such as King Arthur, the Welsh Princes and Celtic myth and legend."

The course has been introduced after the success of NEWI's three-day family and community history courses which are held at the institute throughout the year.

Places are still available on the next family and community history session, which runs from Monday, May 19 to Wednesday, May 21 at NEWI's Plas Coch campus. It will also run from June 2 to 4, June 16 to 18, July 7 to 9 and July 21 to 23.

For further information telephone Kate Green on 01978 293169, or emailing n.johnson@newi.ac.uk or k.green@newi.ac.uk.
