A SERIES of intimidating Nazi-style Swastikas have been daubed on buildings around Wrexham in a concerted campaign of race-hatred.
North Wales Police are appealing for anyone who may have information on the crimes to get in contact with them and help catch the yobs responsible for the attacks in Wrexham.

The graffiti involves large Nazi emblems being scrawled prominently at a number of locations, including King Street, Yorke Street and Smithfield Road. Buildings, walls and a phone kiosk have been targeted.

"We are treating the incidents reported very seriously as hate crimes," said Inspector Chris Beasley of Wrexham Police.

"As part of our investigation we are currently looking at CCTV footage.

"We would also welcome any information from the public to help find those responsible."

A businessman from Yorke Street who saw one of the insignias condemned the mindless motives behind the sign of hate. Luckily there were some workmen nearby who quickly agreed to paint it out.

"But it was terrible to see something like this in the middle of Wrexham and there are other examples around the town as well," he said.

A resident of Smithfield Road was also shocked by the Swastikas.

He said that, unfortunately, there will always be a small minority looking to stir racial hatred.

"It is sickening when something like this happens," he said.

"There is no excuse for it, but there is a tiny percentage who are looking for trouble."

Wrexham MP Ian Lucas said such evil actions had no place in a civilised society and the people responsible were abhorrent.

"I am totally appalled that this has happened," said Mr Lucas.

"I was recently at a function for veteran service personnel with people who fought fascism, they risked their lives to save democracy for us all."

A spokeswoman for Wrexham Council said that if any incidents of racially motivated graffiti are reported to the authority they are dealt with as a matter of priority.

Earlier this month the Evening Leader reported on a hard-hitting approach to tackling race hate crime in Wrexham with the launch of a new campaign.

Posters showing the victims of race hate and others, accompanied by the slogan "Racism comes from all sorts of people! Hate hurts! Wrexham does not tolerate race hate crime" can be seen on bus routes, bus shelters and phone boxes.

Reporting centres have been set up for victims of race hate crime to report what is happening to them.

The debate over the trajectory of the western sociopolitical system and its strained relations with Islam is the most pivotal of our time. Muslims are in one of the most difficult phases of their history when malicious attacks including allegation of terrorism are being made on Islam and Muslims all over the world. The malicious campaign against Muslims is politically motivated. The world is obsessed by Islam. Anti-terror measures are ruining lives of Muslim youths. If you go around arresting young Muslims, you are going to find that you are going to ostracise this community. Young Muslims don’t need to be ostracized, they need to be engaged. According to the Arch Bishop, Rowan Williams, acceptance of some facets of Sharia not only “seems unavoidable”, but could actually improve social cohesion. Muslims should be able to choose to have marital or financial matters dealt with in a Sharia Court. Such courts should therefore be incorporated into the British legal system as a constructive accommodation with Islam. Schools are being asked to help “win hearts and minds” in the battle against violent extremists on both sides. British born Imams should go into schools to supplement the teaching of RE, PSHE and Citizenship so that all pupils can learn about the Holy Quran and Islam in the context of a multicultural society. OFSTED must make sure that their services should be fully utilised by the schools, otherwise, it will be waste of public money.

The British Establishment is wrong to assert that Imams and Masajid have been radicalising Muslim youths. The roots of extremism are in the British society and schools where institutional racism is at its peak. The racism within schools has got little media coverage. The school attended by 7/7 bombers in a part of Leeds known for its history of racial tension between British Asians and native Brits. Leeds council was so worried about the violence that it had to call in Foundation for Peace, a government funded peacekee

As far as I can make out its not Islamics that are targeted here in Wrexham, its more anti Polish and anti east European.
but dont you think its wrong to use the anti terror laws to fingerprint children in our schools without parental knowledge or consent?

As for Sharia law, I think that the laws of this land are sufficient enough to deal with any problems muslims may have.

I cannot see what good can be done to force the Quran on pupils, just like it would be wrong to force muslim students to learn the holy bible, and its many interpretations.

Integration should be a willing partnership not a forced regime that will breed hatred and resentment.

'Yachydda' what makes you think the graffiti is "anti Polish and anti east European"?
I doubt it is anything too sinister. We've seen swastika graffiti around town since ever I can remember. Whilst it's offensive, I wouldn't give the culprit/culprits the exposure and publicity of front page news.

To:Evening Reader.

firstly I never stated or insinuated that the "Grafitti" was anti polish or east European.
What I did state that the racist feelings in Wrexham is not directed mainly at Islamists, but towards Polish and east europeans.
However I cannot think why someone would daube Swastkas all over Wrexham, it looks to me to be a statement that Wrexham is regarded as a racist town by someone and this was possibly done as a statement by people who feel that there are too many racial offences in the town as a whole.

Well after the Goverment finally admitting were in for a hard time,Recession,Credit Crunch,Pending Job losses.Crack downs on Benefits Increase in the cost of living,House repossesions,Imigration, heating increases the list goes on!!!! Isn't it likely that people are under pressure and therefore wan't to express their feeling in someway? Not the best way by any means. but i think it's indicitive of the general feeling towards present times and current affairs. again i hope the offenders are caught and brought to book !!!
