A FURIOUS trader has hit out at vandals who trashed his Wrexham bridal shop, causing £8,000 worth of damage.
Steve Reeves, owner of Simply Stunning, based in the central arcade in the town centre, accused the yobs of attempting to sabotage the regeneration of the town.

Vandals smashed windows during the early hours of the morning, damaging a £2,000 wedding dress, beyond repair .

Parts of the original Victorian shop front were also damaged, resulting in a repair bill of more than £6,000.

Staff discovered the extent of the damage when they opened the shop for business last Saturday morning.

Steve, who has owned the shop for four years, said he was shocked to see the damage.

"Whoever has done this is just mindless," he said. "They don't think about the consequences.

"It is quite devastating really. With the regeneration of Wrexham, we are all working really hard to make the town good and have all these little boutiques and shops and vandals just come along and start messing it up.

"I'm furious because since we have opened we have catered for 200 weddings and last year we extended the business and opened another shop to give people more variety and to keep people here in Wrexham.

"On Saturday, business was just interrupted because we couldn't really do much as there was glass everywhere.

"It is suspicious because the arcade is locked at night, so it is definitely vandals because nothing was stolen.

"The Victorian plate glass windows will cost over £6,000 to replace and there was a £2,000 wedding dress in the window, which will have to be written off because we can't sell it now. It is covered in glass."

Steve also thanked his customers for offering their support. He said: "All the customers and brides we have served over the years have been coming in and asking if there is anything they can do.

"The support has been excellent.

"We are so popular in town and we trade from recommendation, so I just want people to know we are still here.

"Even if no one is caught, I hope they see this and have a conscience.

"I am not going to let bullies frighten me away."

A North Wales Police spokesman said t and investigations were ongoing.

Anyone with information should contact local police on 0845 6071002 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
