People in the county are asked to be on the lookout for flats which have been converted into 'drug factories' producing cannabis and other drugs.
Police, the fire service and Flintshire Neighbourhood Watch Association have teamed up with other age
ncies to raise awareness of the problem.
Neil Gallagher, of North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said: "We have highlighted the existence of these types of premises to our operational crews throughout North Wales.
"These premises could pose a risk to the safety of firefighters, especially properties that have been tampered with."
Fire chiefs say properties are damaged by the installation of industrial ventilation, heating and lighting used to grow drugs. This makes the properties more susceptible to fire damage.
Residents should be aware of anything suspicious, including tenants paying large amounts of cash for rentals, windows being permanently covered from the inside and by-products such as used fertiliser being removed in binbags or laundry bags.
The message comes ahead of the national Tackling Drugs Awareness week, starting on May 19.
Flintshire Neighbourhood Watch and Flintshire Community Safety Partnership will be working to combat drug-related crime and raise awareness among young people. An educational bus will be at Asda Queensferry on May 19 and Flint Retail Park on May 22, with members of the Young Persons Substance Misuse Team on hand to offer advice.
