A RARE mountain bike worth £2,500 was stolen from a Flintshire family's garage, just hours after being picked from the shop.
Flintshire owner Gary Pierce says the bike, a green Mongoose Pinn'r Foreman, was one of just two in the whole country.

Thieves who struck at the garage outside Gary's home on Dingle Road, Leeswood, Flintshire, also took a £500 mountain bike belonging to his 15-year-old son Ryan Griffiths, as well as various pieces of fishing tackle.

Gary, 42, a keen mountain biker who works at Airbus in Broughton, said: "The Mongoose is an extremely rare bike.

"I was given it as a Christmas present and I picked it up from the shop on Sunday.

"We woke up on Monday morning and the garage had been broken into. They must have known what they were doing because we had a third bike in there, just a normal one that isn't worth much, and they left that behind."

The theft happened overnight between Sunday night and Monday morning.
The bike belonging to Castell Alun High School pupil Ryan was a silver Specialised model.

North Wales Police are investigating, and anyone with information should call 0845 607 1002 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
