A CLOTHES shop has added its voice to those of residents who claim they are plagued by parking problems caused by work on the £100m Eagles Meadow develoment in Wrexham.
MP Ian Lucas has already met residents and spoken at a tenant's group in Smithfield about concerns relating to parking at the development, which is set to open in October.

He has now been contacted by clothes store Ragazzi, who say it is having pr
oblems with contractors taking up parking spaces outside their store.

Mr Lucas, who supports the development, will be writing to Eagles Meadow development company Wilson Bowden and Wrexham Council to highlight the issue and to ask for action to be taken.

"The store contacted me as they are having difficulties with the parking outside their shop and have not had a helpful response so far," he said.

"I believe those working at the site need to be more sensitive to the requirements of local businesses and that the council need to look once more at the parking issues in the area.

"This is yet another case where parking issues are linked to the Eagles' Meadow development. I believe the development is one we should all be proud of and that it is good for Wrexham.

"However, I also believe this should not blind us to issues which may arise as a result. I have already written to the council leader to stress this – and will do so once again."

Work on the site is on target for its October opening with a four-day launch party planned to take place from Thursday, October 30, to Sunday, November 2.

Cllr Bob Dutton, deputy leader of Wrexham Council and lead member for communities and performance, said: "The area in question is not a controlled parking area from the council's perspective and tradesmen working on site have to find locations for their own vehicles as well as they can.

"Work will be finished in the next couple of months ready for the opening in October. There may be inconvenience while the work is finished but it will be resolved in a few weeks."
