A RECYCLING unit that was gutted after a 24 hour inferno will be demolished.
Firefighters rushed to the scene after a blaze broke out at Paperback recycling and collection facility, a supplier to Kimberly-Clark, on 10th Avenue, Deeside Industrial Estate.
North Wales Fire and Rescue received the call at about 10.30am on Wednesday morning and six fire crews spent more than 24 hours tackling the inferno, which is believed to have started after bales of paper overheated.
Firefighters remained at the scene all day yesterday and were still there this morning.
The building is to be demolished by a specialist company, after the roof collapsed, making it too dangerous to enter.
Firefighters will douse each bale of paper that is brought out as the building is pulled down.
Bob Mason of the fire service said: "The building is structurally very unsafe. The fire is under control, but following the collapse of the roof yesterday afternoon, it was impossible to send firefighters into the building to extinguish the remaining fire.
"The building contains big bales of recycled paper which are smouldering and at present we are unable to get to them properly."
