Wrexham councillors have welcomed news that the speed limit at an accident black spot is to be reduced from the national speed limit to 30 mph.
Wrexham Cllr Paul Rogers told Brymbo Community Council that the reduction on Blast Road in the village should be made in the near future.

The road has been subject to accidents and concern by residents and following a planning application for 17 new houses in the area which would create new access from Blast Road to the playground and open space.

Cllr Rogers took up his concern with Wrexham Highways and Planning Departments – with a successful outcome. The developer is to contribute £2,000 towards the legal costs of changing the speed limit.

He said: " Road safety is something I see as a key priority particularly around residential areas such as Penygraig.

"Blast Road has been plagued with accidents over many years. You only have to look at the damage to fencing. Last year there was an accident involving a car and school bus. I am pleased that the views of local residents have now been taken into account."

Cllr Brian Stapley said he was pleased with the news as the community had voiced its concern about road safety for a long time.
