PERSEVERANCE paid off for Sylvie Davies as she became the last £1,000 Evening Leader Bingo winner.

Mrs Davies, 68, of Cheshire View, Brymbo, Wrexham, said after hearing of her success: "I am really shocked because I have entered quite a few times and now that I've won I am absolutely delighted."

Mrs Davies and her husband, Hywel, 71, have the Evening Leader delivered direct to their door.

"When I found out I'd won I was really excited," said the competition's latest winner, who added that she had not yet decided how she would spend the money. Mrs Davies looks after her mother, Evelyn Povey, 87, and has a large family, most of whom live in the area.

She said: "We always have the Evening Leader and we've just switched over to direct debit."

Mrs Davies's win marks the end of this round of Bingo from the Evening Leader, which last week saw two people win £500 each.

Leader Bingo is sponsored by Mecca Bingo in Wrexham and its the second time the competition has been held.
