TOUCHING stories of how the lives of rescue cats have changed since they were adopted have been flooding in since an appeal in the Leader.
The stories will now make up a special part of the Wrexham Cats Protection's 10th anniversary celebrations next weekend.

The Wrexham cat adoption centre would like to thank everyone who sent in stories about their adopted cats for the 10th anniversary display.

"Since we first opened our doors in 1998, we have rehomed over 7,000 cats and kittens," said adoption centre manager Gwyneth Walker.

"As we are celebrating our 10th anniversary, we wanted to get in touch with cat lovers who had adopted a homeless cat from us over the past 10 years.

"Following an appeal in the Evening Leader, we received lots of stories and photos of cats that we had rehomed – it brought back lots of memories.

"It was lovely to read how they'd settled into their new homes and become part of the family. Some of the cats we had rescued had been in a poorly state after living on the streets and it was wonderful to see how happy, content and pampered their lives are now.

"We received many tales of cats' mischievous adventures, sleepless nights when they had gone missing and friendships with other pets. Some owners had really made great efforts for their pet – even moving house to give their cat the most perfect life!

"The fact that all of these cat owners told of how much they loved their adopted pet touched the staff and volunteers who work at the centre."

A display featuring all of these stories will be unveiled at the adoption centre's 10th anniversary celebration day on Saturday, May 17, from 11am-4pm. It will be an event for all the family with children's entertainment, a bouncy castle, face-painting, a nail artist, tarot readings, stalls, tombola, competitions and refreshments.

Visitors can also meet the cats available for adoption, ask staff about the running of the centre and discover more about the centre's 10 year history.

Entry to this coming Saturday's celebration is free.
