AN OLD coaching inn that has allegedly witnessed strange goings-on will be the venue for the next paranormal investigation by a Wrexham group.
Landlady, Sam Nikolic has reported some unusual occurrences at the White Horse in Overton recently and has called in Wrexham-based Spirit Quest UK to get to the bottom of things.

According to Sam, pumps have been mysteriously switching off, the burglar alarm has been activating for no apparent reason and one of the rooms of the pub often fills with smoke, which seems to have no source.

Strange footsteps are often heard on the landings in the pub and objects frequently move or vanish.

Sam said: "I saw an article on this group in the Leader and thought maybe they can give us some answers.

"They've been down to the pub already and said that it is one of the most haunted places they have ever been to."

Spirit Quest UK recently completed a successful investigation at the Hand Hotel in Llangollen, assisted by Richard Holland, a well-known writer on the paranormal.

The group's director, Howard Hughes, said of it latest mission: "Everything we know about it comes from the owner, who is a very credible witness to the events.

"From the phenomenon that she described, I can honestly say that this sounds like it will be the most active place that we have ever visited and we can't wait. It's very exciting."

Howard said of his group's visit to the 300 year-old inn: "We took base line tests and experienced the smoke-filled room first hand and high, moving EMF (electromagnetic field) readings as well as knocks in response to our questions and this was during the day. At night, it should be amazing. The amount and frequency of the phenomenon is unprecedented.

"We are the first paranormal group to investigate the inn and we will have the best mediums to help us out. It should be a night to remember.

"Our part of Wales has to be the most haunted and I am not the first to make such a bold statement."

Anyone who wants to join the group on July 29 at the White Horse at Overton on Dee, can contact the group via their web site at www.spiritquestuk.co.uk or by phoning them on 05602942919. Bookings must be in advance only and places are limited.
