TENANTS in Wrexham are to be consulted on a new strategy and constitution that sets out how they can participate in council decisions.
Wrexham Council's executive board this week approved a draft tenant and leaseholder participation strategy and model constitution which will now go out to wide consultation with tenants and leaseholders.

The draft strategy is the result of meetings held by the council since April 2007 with the Tenants' Assembly, Wrexham Tenants' Federation, tenants and residents groups, the Leaseholders' Assembly and Sheltered Tenants' Association.

A report was presented to the Wrexham Tenant and Member Partnership on June 30 and members backed the draft strategy as a basis for wider consultation with tenants.

Landlord services manager Fred Czulowski told the executive board the strategy would offer a range of options for tenants to become involved.

"This is building on work we've been doing for some years," he said.

"It gathers all our work up and presents it in one strategy and allows us to be very clear on how we consult with tenants."
