LONG-AWAITED plans for Wrexham FC's stadium redevelopment will be submitted within a week, according to the club chairman.
Wrexham FC's owner, Geoff Moss, has said The Racecourse redevelopment, hampered by delays, will now include a 120-room hotel and that the Kop end proposals are almost finalised.

Original plans to build student accommodation in conjunction with Gly
ndwr University fell apart when the university could not wait for the plans to come to fruition and struck out on its own.

Parking was also a problem but the club has said it will still go ahead with building student accommodation and Mr Moss has now said there will be ample parking.

Wrexham FC is hoping the income generated from the new development will help reduce its debts.

The development will be split into three phases – the accommodation block with room for 300 students, the sports arena with facilities for sports including basketball, and the hotel. There will also be shops and a launderette service.

It is hoped that when complete, the development will help The Racecourse become the "Millennium Stadium of the North" attracting international games in many sports and large audiences.

Supporters will be keen to see funding secured for the development of a new stand.
