Today we ask if you think obese people should be forced to pay more if they want to go on aeroplane?
An Australian doctor and nutritional expert has made the call for airlines to introduce a 'fat tax' on overweight passengers.

It is thought the charge would be determined per extra kilo, in the same way as excess baggage is.

In an interview, Dr John Tickell said: "If you are going to charge for excess baggage, then charge fat people for excess weight.

"Airlines are buying fuel, and if you are carrying a heavy weight on a plane you have to pay more for it"

"But, instead, the rest of the public is paying for it - it's got to be restricted," he added.

But the radical proposal has also attracted a backlash from those who argue it discriminates against people with weight problems.

One campaigner against the scheme said: "It's not fair to single out those people who have a problem, which is already impacting greatly on their life, and make them feel like pariahs."

What do you think though - should overweight people pay more to fly?

well to be perfectly honest - yes. we are only allowed to take a certain weight on planes in luggage or we have to pay extra. so, why should somebody who weighs twice as much as me get away with paying the same price for a ticket? i think people who take up two seats on public transport should have to pay more aswell.

Absolutely overweight people should pay more. The airlines charge of luggage over 50 pounds. It is not just about weight. These obese people also take up your seat space as they "hang" all over your spot on the plane. They want to wage war if you want the air rest down because it cuts into their fat. If someone is to fat to fit into a seat without infringing on the other occupants space, they should have to buy 2 seats.

I agree that extra weight means extra fuel, but where do we draw the line, who is fat and who is not? airlines could come up with an average weight of say 9st and any one over that will pay extra, which would mean most of us could end up paying, also think of the queues at the check in as everyone gets weighed, which would mean delays and slots are very tight at airports.

I think its wrong to charge fat people for extra weight becuase a plane is big anyhow...im 315lbs and it sucks when you dont have the money to fly and see your family
