BOWLS - Kev gives the Colliers no slack in Hill victory

FLINTSHIRE MIDWEEK LEAGUE - Division One leaders Bailey Hill have increased their lead at the top to five points after they won 11-1 at Gresford Colliery.
Kev Whitlow 21-3 led the way for Bailey Hill who also had the highest score in the division with 199 points while Kevin P Jones 21-10 was the only winner for Colliery.

Broughton A are third after beating Hawkesbury A 8-4 with Daniel Richardson 21-4 and Paul Roberts 21-10 for the Hawks, and Coed Talon A won 9-4 at Rhydymwyn A with Greg Jones and Tom Middlehurst both 21-11 and Neil Snodgrass with the same score for the home team.

Gate A took the aggregate 167-162 to triumph 7-5 at Connah's Quay A with Graham Rogers 21-9 and Derek Boden 21-5 for the Quay, while second place Llay A took the aggregate 194-155 to win 7-5 at Cunliffe A with Martin Jones 21-4 and James Ackerley 21-15 for the home team for whom Ryland Lewis was the winner in last week's defeat by Bailey Hill.

Neil Charlton of Fron Park still leads the merit with Des Hey and John Bonatti of Bailey Hill second and third.

Airbus beat second place Esclusham 9-3 with Phil Russell and Bob Dolby 21-9 winners and Kevin Jones 21-6 for the visitors, and joint third placed Aston A saw off Pentre Broughton 9-3 with Stan Norwood 21-5 and Leighton Roberts 21-6 for the visitors.

Copperfields scored 200 points in defeating Broughton B 10-2 with Ken Jones 21-8 and Paul Carter 21-13 for Broughton, while leaders Sychdyn A won 10-2 at second from bottom Greenfield with third in the merit Viv Roberts and Chris Jones both 21-9 and Brian Gallagher 21-11 for Greenfield.

Gresford Village won 8-4 at bottom team Penyffordd with Graham Ellis 21-6 and Hazel Morse and Barry Gittins both 21-7 for the home team, and Sychdyn B beat Cunliffe B 8-4 with Louise Dougal 21-5 and Chris Revill 21-10 for the visitors.

Ian Formstone of Gresford Village leads the merit with Cyril Matthews of Pentre Broughton in second place.

Castle Sports defeated Mancot 8-4 in Division Three with Pat Travers 21-7 and Lesley Williams 21-9 for Mancot, and leaders Llay B won 8-4 at Gate B with John Sherlock 21-2 and Gwenda Wynne 21-9 for Gate.

Second place New Brighton took the aggregate 157-148 to win 7-5 at Corus with merit leader Paul Evans 21-3 and third in the merit Dave Jones 21-2 for Corus, and Mostyn saw off Castell Alun A 9-3 with Peter Fawcett 21-11 and Cathy Rogers 21-8 for the Alun.

Linda Williams of Flint is second in the merit.

In Division Four, second place Carmel scored 203 points in beating Saltney 11-1 with Norman Lloyd and Andy Forsyth both 21-10 and the only winner for the visitors was David Jacques with 21-14, and Cilcain triumphed 8-4 at Treuddyn with Tony Mattison 21-6 and Steve Edge 21-10 for the home team.

Ken Hines of Cilcain remains unbeaten and continues to lead the merit table.

Northop Hall defeated Hoole Park 8-4 with Ken Aston 21-7 and Stephen Eames 21-5 for Hoole, while Oakenholt A beat Connah's Quay B 9-3 with Ricci Pearson 21-6 and Steve Rowley 21-14 for the Quay.

Rhydymwyn B won 8-4 at Argoed with Joyce Hughes and John Harley both 21-8 and Dave Passmore 21-3 for the home team.

Paul Pearson of Oakenholt is second in the merit with John Evans of Hoole Park in third place.

Bryn Gwalia beat Aston B 9-3 in Division Five with Stephen Davies 21-5 and Brian Lewis 21-11 for Aston, while Castell Alun B took the aggregate 180-171 to overcome second placed Oakenholt 7-5 with Freda Stephens 21-7 and Gwyneth Lea 21-10 for the visitors.

Gladstone B took the aggregate 180-167 to defeat Halkyn 7-5 with Mervyn Roberts 21-6 and Arthur Kemp 21-7 for the visitors, and third place Leeswood won 9-3 at Mancot B with Kevin Watkins 21-7 and Maurice Tudor 21-8 for the home team.

Nercwys A drew 6-6 with Caerwys after taking the aggregate 186-171 when the visitors won six games. Phil Williams and Margaret Morris both won 21-9 for the home team and Terry Bailey and Clive Petty both won 21-15 for the visitors.

New Brighton scored 204 points to beat Nercwys 9-3 with John Blackwell 21-10 and Mike Cahalane 21-18 for the visitors.

Barry Lloyd of Caerwys leads the merit with team mate Clive Petty in second place while Stephen Davies of Bryn Gwalia has moved into third place.
