Andy Fleming wants his place back in Wrexham FC

ANDY FLEMING is determined to win his place back in the Wrexham FC team for tomorrow's game against Kettering.
The 21-year-old returned to training this week and could feature when Wrexham entertain Kettering at The Racecourse tomorrow (3pm).
Fleming has spent nearly two months on the sidelines and required a cartilage operation after injuring his knee in training.
And although manager Dean Saunders has recruited loan signings Nathan Fairhurst, Angelos Tsiaklis and Ryan Flynn to bolster his options in the centre of midfield, Fleming is gunning for a return.
"I started training again on Monday so I am pleased to be back," said Fleming today. "I had been looking forward to being involved with the lads again. I just want to try and push on now, and try and win my place back in the team.
"The main thing is that the team is winning and we push for promotion. But I will work hard in training and keep giving 100 per cent, and when the chance comes I have got to take it.
"There are a few lads who have come in on loan that are in front of me.
"I am just glad to be back training again and I will try and get back in the team now.
"I would like to be involved in some part tomorrow but it is just good to be back from injury.
"The knee feels fine but I am doing a bit of work to build it up."
Fleming's knee problem is the worst injury he has had in his career and it was particularly disappointing that it came when he had just been given his chance in the Wrexham first team.
Having not featured all season under Brian Little, Saunders selected Fleming for his first game in charge, the 3-2 victory at Forest Green Rovers.
Fleming also played alongside loan signing Joe Allen in the 3-1 win against York City before injury struck, and he admits that his spell on the sidelines came at the wrong time.
"It was disappointing to get injured. I don't normally get injured," said Fleming.
"I have not been injured for a long while, and it has been my first long term injury, the worst I have had.
"It was frustrating to be out because I had finally got my chance in the team, so I got injured at the wrong time.
"The team was doing well and we had started to win a couple of games.
"I was doing okay and I was enjoying it – then I had the set-back."
Having been given his chance under Saunders, Fleming is pleased the Reds' boss has shown faith by selecting him and he says that has been a big help.
"It is good the gaffer thinks well of me," added Fleming. "That has put a lot of confidence in me.
"He put me straight in the team for his first game and that makes a difference, it gives you a boost.
"It is nice that someone has confidence in you."
Another long term injury victim, right-sided Kyle Critchell, also returned to training this week after damaging ankle ligaments at the end of August.
Pleased he has nearly got a fully fit squad, Saunders said that Critchell and Fleming were both in contention for the visit of Kettering.
"I am delighted to have them back," said Saunders. "Kyle is a bit further away than Andy because he has been out longer – but they are in with a chance."
Midfielder Silvio Spann, also back in training, has felt some discomfort with his shoulder that twice had to be put back in when he fractured it in the victory at Weymouth three weeks ago.
