CARL TREMARCO is determined to demonstrate his true worth to non-league bound Wrexham next season.
The defender has signed a two-year deal at The Racecourse and said: "I received a few offers from other clubs but Wrexham appealed to me. It seemed right to stay because I feel the fans have not seen the best of me yet.

"I had to think long and hard about signing a two-year deal because I had received a couple of offers from league clubs, but once I spoke to my missus who is expecting a baby soon, my mind was made up.

"I was troubled with a number of injury problems last season, so it would be nice to have an injury-free season and help get Wrexham back into the Football League.

"I had to think long and hard about signing a new contract because a couple of league clubs were wanting to sign me.

"Both Chester and Rotherham were interested in signing me, but I don't think Chester would have been the right move, and I wanted to be closer to home than Rotherham, who were the other club to show interest."

Liverpool-born Tremarco, 22, believes Wrexham boss, Brian Little, can get the best out of his side as they strive to get back into the Football League.

He added: "Brian Little has already made a statement at Wrexham by releasing 22 players.

"I believe he has the knowledge and he was one of the reasons why I decided to stay at Wrexham.

"I've also been impressed with Martyn Foyle and Brian Carey and I'm happy with our aim. We need to get back into the league because I think we're too big for the Conference."

Tremarco admitted he thought Wrexham's task would be far from easy when the new season kicked off.

He said: "I don't think there's a lot of difference between the Conference and the Football League.

"I've seen a bit of Conference football on television and I thought Barrow were a good side. It's going to be hard work and far from easy.

"It will be weird to be playing in the Conference, but once Brian Little brings in some good players we know we need to start again and kick-on."

Tremarco was plagued with injury problems towards the end of last season which left him as a frustrated spectator.

He said: "I didn't play in the games leading up to Wrexham being relegated and it was a new experience for me.

"I was in the Brian Little side at Tranmere that managed to stay up in the penultimate game, so I've seen the other side of the coin.

"Last season at Wrexham was disappointing and an experience I don't want to go through again."

Wrexham first team coach, Martin Foyle, was delighted to see Tremarco sign on.

He said: "That's the first one signed up and even better that he is someone who could have stayed with a League Club, but still chose to stick with us.

"You could see the difference he made when returning to the team at Lincoln.

"That's the sort of quality we are looking at for next season and he will be just the first of a number of signings as we go through the summer."
