BRENTFORD'S Ricky Shakes has revealed he would jump at the chance of joining Wrexham.
The 23-year-old winger was told by Brentford manager Andy Scott at the end of last season that he would not be having his contract renewed at the League One outfit.

That was despite Shakes starting 25 league games in the campaign, scoring three goals, which he believed would earn him a new deal.

Shakes has been shown around The Racecourse since being released and he would like to help Wrexham mount an immediate challenge for promotion back to the Football League next term.

"Wrexham are the only side to have shown an interest – there is nothing else on the table, so that looks like the most likely option at the moment," said Shakes.

"I thought I had done enough to stay another year (at Brentford) but I see moving down a league as a challenge for me to try and push myself back up the ladder again to where I was."

Reds' boss Brian Little has already made three new signings this summer – midfielder Paul Carden and strikers Simon Brown and Jefferson Louis.

And Little, who has been linked with Halifax Town midfielder Tom Kierney, has indicated that more new arrivals will follow.

Would Ricky Shakes be a good signing for Wrexham? Leave your views below.
