Wrexham take on a Darlington side at The Racecourse tomorrow (2.30pm) that will be hoping to maintain their challenge for promotion.

Second in the League Two table, Darlington are five points behind leaders Milton Keynes Dons but with two games in hand.

Manager Dave Penney has made a number of high profile signings in a bid to win promotion this season and it has paid off on the pitch, with Darlington losing just four times in 27 league outings.

And Little, who managed The Quakers earlier in his managerial career, hopes that Wrexham will be in a similar position in the future.

"Darlington are a good side. We saw them a couple of weeks ago and they impressed me," said Little today. "They have strengthened a lot and have brought in some good players.

"Darlington have a strong squad and will be there of thereabouts at the end of the season.

"They started the season well and they have been in a position to attract people to the club.

"You have to say they are a club on the up. The team is doing well, they have good facilities, and is sellable to players. People want to go there.

"All teams strive for that. It is the sort of thing we could achieve, though it might take time.

"You look at Darlington and want to emulate them, though we are a long way off at the moment in terms of points we have got and in attracting people.

"But there is no reason why we can't achieve it."

Wrexham go into the clash – brought forward by half-an-hour because of the Wales against England Six Nations rugby match – on the back of a three-game unbeaten run which has heralded five points.

Although still bottom of the table and five points adrift of safety, Little is looking for Wrexham to build on those recent results, but he knows Darlington will be a tough proposition.

"This is one of those games in a series of fixtures we have got coming up against teams going for promotion," added Little.

"But we have been picking up points at the moment and we are looking to keep doing that.

"The recent Milton Keynes Dons victory will be an influence to us and there is no reason why we can't do it again.

"Darlington won't underestimate us after that result, which is a nice thing, but it will be a hard game.

"However, we have got nothing to fear."

Left-wing back Carl Tremarco, who hobbled off with a hamstring injury in Tuesday's 2-2 draw at Morecambe, is a major doubt.

Little is hoping that midfielder Danny Sonner, who yesterday signed a deal until the end of the season, recovers from a groin problem but striker Paul Hall (hamstring) is again ruled out.

Also missing is captain Richard Hope who is serving a one-match ban after being sent off at Morecambe having picked up two yellow cards.

And the Darlington match might have arrived too soon for midfielder Sam Aiston who has missed the last five matches with ankle trouble but is nearing full fitness.
