BRIAN LITTLE today said he will be exploring the loan market to boost his squad after their disappointing dip in form.
After two poor performances against Burton Albion and Cambridge United, Little admits loan moves may be the answer but only if the Reds' budget allows.

But with transfer listed quartet Michael Proctor, Sam Aiston, Silvio Spann and Anthony Williams still at the club, Little reiterated that the situation is out of his hands until he can farm players out.

"As I have said we know we are well on our budget," said Little, whose side have fallen into the bottom half of the Blue Square Premier table.

"We have said for quite while that we are well on our budget, but if we can we will," he said.

"There is still a lump of players on the transfer list that haven't moved in any way and my hands are still tied in many respects. I'm not in charge of that, I can't make other people take people off me and at the same time my job is to look after people that are here.

"They are my players and I have a responsibility to them. I think everyone of them would say to you 'the manager treats us properly'.

"They are human beings and they deserve to be treated properly. We do want want to change things and if we can we will, but at the moment that's just not happening so we have to soldier on."

When asked whether he had targeted any specific positions within his squad, Little admitted that he had more pressing matters to address.

"My big talking point with my staff today was how we can a week ago look like a team that could potentially win the league to all of a sudden go to a team that everybody says have cracked up and are rubbish," said Little.

"There is no point me going into ifs and buts, if you watched Saturday's game I could have changed most positions on the pitch, but reality says that's not the case.

"That's not logic. We had a poor result on Tuesday and were unlucky to lose, but we didn't play very well on Saturday, but that's four days in football.

"At the end of the day we accept that people have a yo-yo mentality on how we do on each individual performance, but someone has to keep a fairly level head as well.

"At the moment I need to get that level head right in terms of how ruthless we need to be. We are not the worst team in the world because we have lost two games.

"I'm gutted about Saturday because there were a lot of things wrong that had no reason to be wrong."

Little also indicated that although he may have got certain decisions wrong, the players must stand up and take responsibility for their own performances.

"I felt, whilst I'm critical of myself, I still expected more from my players than I got from then," he said.

"I'm not blaming them and I don't want anyone to think I'm blaming them because seven days ago people were saying what a good team we were."

Little continued by highlighting that certain individuals not involved so far this season, have not been included for good reasons.

"There are one or two things and anyone can pick people out, but some people don't deserve to be involved in the team," he admitted.

"In fairness some of those players who haven't been out there are not because they haven't done well enough to be out there.

"There are some people that are in the team that can play better and I think that in the last couple of games we have just got the balance of the side wrong.

"We had a fantastic result a week ago and you sit there scratching your head thinking 'what's the big difference?'

"In the end I will pick who I think is right, but I'm not singling out anybody that hasn't been involved in the team so far.

"We will pick a team and hopefully it will win on Saturday regardless of how many changes there are or aren't. I have every right with it being one of those days again in football where you have such a poor display that as manager you can do what you want, so everybody is on their toes.

"A week ago, Jefferson just ate Salisbury up in the second half, but he had a poor game on Saturday. A week ago, Tom Kearney and Levi completely dominated the midfield, but on Saturday they were non-existent.

"A week ago, Simon Spender, who had one of the best and quickest left-sided players against him completely dominated, but on Saturday he got turned loads of times and was beaten for the second goal so it's one of those days where no one played well enough to help me win an argument.

"I have to get the balance right between being ruthless and level headed and ultimately I have to win a game on Saturday."
