BRIAN LITTLE is adamant he holds no grudges after cutting his ties with Wrexham Football Club.
Brian Little's ten month reign as manager came to an end at the weekend when he left Wrexham FC by mutual consent.
The decision came after a meeting with chairman Geoff Moss on Friday, but the announcement was made to the players just over two hours before the kick-off of Saturday's 1-1 draw against Torquay United at The Racecourse.
Pressure had been mounting on Little - handed a new two year deal at the end of last season - following a run of four defeats in five matches had seen Wrexham drop into the bottom half of the Blue Square Premier.
And Little, who always said he would willingly step aside if asked to, said he felt it was the right time to leave.
"We sat down and had a good chat and thought it was the right thing to do," said Little.
"There are no hard feelings and I have left on the best of terms.
"I would like to wish everyone all the best and I genuinely wish the club every success.
"I genuinely think it is a great club and I hope its fortunes change.
"I am sure somewhere along the line the club will sort itself out and it is a great job to have."
Little was unable to save Wrexham from relegation after being brought in as successor to Brian Carey - who became his assistant - in November.
Despite starting the present campaign with a 5-0 thumping of title favourites Stevenage Borough, Wrexham have endured a mixed bad of results and have struggled against the likes of Grays Athletic.
Inconsistency became a feature of Little's 43-league game spell in charge, with Wrexham winning 11, drawing 11 and losing 21, with the Reds also exiting the FAW Premier Cup at Llanelli under the former Aston Villa and Leicester City man.
But Little said no-one could question his effort.
"I never got to grips with it as much as I would have liked," said Little.
"I tried my best and we had little spells.
"I would like to think I tidied a few things out at the club but I always said that if I felt I was in the way I would go, and not leave under a cloud.
"After the last few weeks I thought I would let someone else have a go.
"The fans have been good despite the last few weeks."
Little made sweeping changes following relegation, with more than 22 players told their futures lay away from The Racecourse.
Seven new signings were brought in over the summer, along with a couple of players last month on short term deals, but Little was criticised for Wrexham's long ball style of football this term.
Asked whether he felt let down by his under-performing players, Little stressed he would not lay blame elsewhere.
"I don't want a great debate about it, end of story," said Little.
"Whether I made progress or not we will have to see but I thought it was best to move on.
"I have really enjoyed it at Wrexham and I genuinely think it is a great club.
"I wish all the players every success. They always got on with anything asked of them so good luck to them.
"I said there would be no hard feeling, and that's why it has to be now."
Little, who will continue his media work with satellite tv channel Setanta, hopes to return to management in the future.
"I will take some time but I still think I have got something to offer football," added Little.
"It is just a case of whether I get the opportunity or not, so it is not up to me."
