CARL TREMARCO insists that events off the field should not affect Wrexham FC's performances on it.
Brian Little left Wrexham FC by mutual consent in the run-up to Saturday's 1-1 draw against Torquay United at The Racecourse, and first team coach Martin Foyle left the club yesterday after the appointment of new manager Dean Saunders.

Tremarco sa
id it was up to the players to get on with their own jobs and try to kick start Wrexham's push for promotion.

"We've got to forget what is going on off the field," said Tremarco. "If we let it affect us we will be in a worse position.

"We should not let it affect us. We are paid to play not worry about what is going on off the pitch. Whatever happens, happens, it is nothing to do with us.

"We've just got to knuckle down and believe we can do it because we are good enough to be up there challenging.

"Results have not gone our way and the fans were voicing their opinions after the Rushden defeat which they have got a right to do, but that does not help the players.

"We need to put that to the back of our minds and focus on what what we've got to do."

Having been brought in from Tranmere Rovers in January by Little, his former manager at Prenton Park, Tremarco was given a deal until the end of the season.

Tremarco accepted the offer of a new two-year contract in the summer, with Little a major influence in that decision.

And although he wished Little all the best in the future, Tremarco accepts he has now got to focus on improving Wrexham's current standing in the Blue Square Premier table.

"The manager chooses the team but at the end of the day we have not performed," said Tremarco. "A few can say they have not performed over the last weeks, they would be lying if they said they had.

"It is disappointing from a personal point of view. He was the main reason I stayed in the summer, but does not matter who is in charge, we've got to act professionally. This is my job and I know what I have got to to, and so does the team."

One of four players to have started all 12 matches so far this season, Tremarco's ever present record in under threat after he was forced off with an ankle problem in a full scale practice match involving every fit first team squad player on Tuesday.

Tremarco, hit by a number of injuries last term, hopes to win his fitness to line-up against Forest Green but may more of a realistic chance of facing York CIty at The Racecourse on Tuesday.

"I set myself a bit of a target after last season when I was injured a few times and it was going well," added Tremarco.

"I wanted to stay fit and play every game this season and if I don't, as many as I can.

"But I only lasted ten minutes on Tuesday and that is a kick in the teeth.

"I am still limping so I will have more treatment today. It can't be helped and if I miss Saturday, I should be back Tuesday."
