Wrexham's forgotten man Conall Murtagh has declared himself fit and ready for first team action.
After suffering viral meningitis just days before the start of Wrexham's pre-season friendly programme, Murtagh has had to work hard to drag himself from his hospital bed and back into first team considertion.

And, following disappointing results against Burton Albion and Cambridge, Murtagh could well find himself involved at The Racecourse tomorrow.

"I'm ready for selection," he said. "The injuries have been a pain because I am not used to being injured.

"Hopefully now the bad luck is gone and I can get a good run where I am injury free and get back in the team.

I don't know what the manager is thinking, but he will do what is right for the team. I am just trying to work hard and get back to feeling sharper every day.

"Hopefully I will get a couple more reserve games in. You can train all you want, but you do need games.

With Murtagh's long list of injuries, many a supporter would afford the 23- year-old a moment of self pity, but the Irishman is focused on the future.

"There'is no point feeling sorry for yourself," he said. "You need to keep looking forward and remaining positive.

"I hope to get fit, stay fit, and be a regular. Help the team get promotion."

Despite having a number of players who can play in Murtagh's preferred central midfield role, Little seems unable to find the right partner for captain Tom Kearney, and the former Connah's Quay man is aiming to make his mark, adding: "Everybody needs to feel that they can play. I think it is the same for anyone, they need to know they are capable of playing in their position – and centre midfield is like any other position.

"We have quite a lot of centre midfielders so it is up to whoever the manager picks on the day. I will just have to wait and see.

"You never know what the manager is going to do, but we have been beaten twice and he might ring the changes so hopefully I will be playing."
