WREXHAM FC scored a controversial winner to make it six wins in seven games at Stevenage Borough.
Marc Williams scored a deflected winner for the Reds after Jefferson Louis - who had earlier put Wrexham in front - appeared to have pushed a Stevenage defender.
Dean Saunders handed debuts to loan signings left back Sam Williamson and striker Jon Brown, while Patrick Suffo was on the bench again.
An even first half saw the sides go into the break at 0-0, but things livened up after the break when leading scorer Louis broke the deadlock on 55 minutes after being set up by Brown.
But the lead lasted just eight minutes before Calum Willock scored a spectacular equaliser for the home side.
Stevenage then enjoyed their best period of the game until Louis and Marc Williams combined to produce the winner in the 81st minute.
The Reds had to endure an anxious last few minutes as Stevenage went in search of an equaliser, and keeper Gavin Ward produced an excellent save to deny Kieron St Aimie in injury time.
The result leaves Wrexham in seventh spot, three points behind Kidderminster who occupy the final play-off spot but with a game in hand.
Wrexham: Ward, Baynes (46 Taylor), Mike Williams, Westwood, Williamson, Woolfe (69 Smith), Tsiaklis, Fairhurst, Brown (88 Whalley), Louis, Marc Williams.
Subs not used: Steve Evans, Suffo
