Wrexham were dumped out of the FA Cup at the fourth qualifying round stage in midweek when they were beaten 2-0 in the replay against part-timers Eastwood Town.
It was the first defeat since Saunders took charge and he is looking for an immediate
response from his players for the visit of bottom of the table Lewes.
"I want an all action performance tomorrow," said Saunders. "Football is riddled with disappointments no matter how successful you are.
"Arsenal would have been disappointed the other night. The bar goes up - the standard is so high.
"Fans will have been disappointed what they saw on Tuesday, they pay their money and expect us to perform. It is all about how we come back.
"I have played with lads who have not come back from disappointment and ended up in the lower leagues.
"Others have put a bad day at the office behind them and have gone forward. We have to - I am not interested in people who sulk."
Wrexham are in a rich vein of form in the league after winning their first three league fixtures under Saunders.
That leaves Wrexham eighth in the Blue Square Premier table, just one point off the play off places with a game in hand.
But after such an excellent start to his management career, Saunders admitted it was only a matter of time before Wrexham suffered their first set-back under his tenure, but he learnt a lot about his players.
"I was a bit shocked about the performance on Tuesday but I should not have been," said Saunders. "I knew there would be a slap across the face around the corner.
"The players have done great since I have been here. But Saturday was shaky and Tuesday was a disaster.
"But you don't learn anything in any walk of life until things go wrong.
"When you go to Disney World, it is fantastic until something goes wrong and it is the same in football.
"I am glad I have learnt what I have learnt now.
Although disappointed to have been knocked out of the FA Cup, Saunders was pleased that three points did not go begging, with the league his priority.
"It is back to where we were," said Saunders. "The FA Cup is gone now and out of my mind.
"I know it is no consolation to fans we are out of the cup, and I am disappointed, but I am happier it did not cost us three points.
"We are looking ahead now.
"I knew it was a big job when I came and nothing has changed. We will plough on.
"I want to get better players who want to play for Wrexham and for me."
A number of elements of the performance at Eastwood disappointed Saunders and he will make changes tomorrow.
"I was not happy with the performance at all to say the least," added Saunders.
"But my eyes have been opened wider and I will do something about it."
Saunders will assess the fitness of right-back Wes Baynes.
Baynes was the victim of a two footed challenge at Eastwood, which resulted in substitute Peter Knox shown a red card just 30 seconds after coming on, and he is nursing a knock.
Baynes picked up a fifth yellow card of the season in the cup defeat and will serve a one match ban when Wrexham travel to Altrincham on Tuesday in the Setanta Shield.
But leading scorer Jefferson Louis, who has found the back of the net eight times so far this season, trained yesterday and could be in line for a return.
And Louis, who has missed the last three matches with a hamstring injury, is champing at the bit.
"It is frustrating to be on the sidelines watching so I am buzzing to be back," said Louis.
"I just want to be back in the team and start scoring again.
"There is competition for places and we will have to see what the gaffer feels.
"I was in a rich vein of form before the injury and hopefully I can come back with a bang.
"I am going to be positive. If I can get back in the team then everything will fall into place, and I am sure the goals will come again."
