Dean Saunders getting the right response from Wrexham FC players

TERRY DARRACOTT believes the Wrexham players are responding well under Dean Saunders' guidance.
Former Wrexham defender Darracott has been brought in as assistant manager – along with Brian Carey – to Saunders who has enjoyed a dream start to life in The Racecourse hotseat.
Wrexham have won their opening two games, against Forest Green Rovers and York City, since Saunders took charge and have moved up to tenth position in the Blue Square Premier table.
And Darracott is impressed with the response from the players: "I am really enjoying it here, it is very exciting," he said.
"From my point of view, the reaction of the players to what we have been doing has been excellent.
"They are a very willing group.
"If you are prepared to work at it, there is a good chance to progress and they look as if they are.
"My first game was an enjoyable start and you can see scope for progress."
And Bolton Wanderers chief scout, former Everton manager Colin Harvey, also praised Wrexham's performance in Tuesday's 3-1 victory against York.
"I had a friend in the stand, Colin, who rang me the next day and said he was really impressed with how the lads went about it," said Darracott.
"He said you could not have asked for any more.
"It is what we believed anyway, but it is nice to hear it from someone else."
Wrexham had no game at the weekend because Steve Evans, Mike and Marc Williams, and on-loan Joe Allen, were away on international duty with the Wales senior and under 21 squads, and with Saunders also away in his role as assistant to Wales boss, John Toshack, Darracott was following the training programme his manager left in his absence.
"It does not surprise me Dean has made a big impact," said Darracott.
"Dean is a big name in football and I am sure everyone is delighted to have him at Wrexham.
"I am here to look after the ship while Dean is away, but we talk every day. I will do what he wants doing, nothing different, he can rest assured. I will just carry on doing what he wants me to do.
"Work is getting done ready for our next game against Mansfield on Saturday."
Darracott, who was Bolton's European scout prior to linking up with Saunders again, did not hesitate about returning to The Racecourse where he served as a player 20 years ago.
"I spoke to Dean about the situation if he ever became manager and I was delighted to come on board," said Darracott.
"Dean impressed me as a coach at Bolton, and with his enthusiasm you'd call him a football nut!
"You have to love the game to be here with the position Wrexham are in.
"We have got to keep working at it and improve the team and ourselves.
It is important we learn from what we do on a day to day basis."
