THERE will be no room for passengers in the new Wrexham FC regime says new manager Dean Saunder.
That is Dean Saunders' attitude as he hopes to boost Wrexham's hopes of challenging for promotion.

And he is challenging the under-performing Reds' players - who he says start with a clean slate - to show some pride and play their part in getting
the club back on track.

"There is no way I want to be sitting here in six months not thinking I havegiven it everything I have got," said Saunders. "I have got pride in my performance, I always have, and I got pride in what
"I have got to do so there is no way I cam going to let anybody stand in my way.

"If there's people turning up each morning not thinking like I do they willbe quickly out of the door.

"That's all I ask of them - I am not asking for Pele or Maradona.
"What I will do is expect people to work hard and earn their money, and entertain the supporters."

Saunders, who was present at a practice match on Tuesday and took charge of two training sessions yesterday, will give the current crop of players a chance to impress and he wants them to show some pride.

"I will have to look at the players we have got first," said Saunders.

"Obviously things will change around but first of all I am going to give theplayers I have got a chance.

"It has all been a bit of a mad rush.

"I watched a few games last season and there are a few of them still here but to make a football judgement on them, I have only worked with them for one day.

"We have 20-odd players and I am going to have to pick 11 tomorrow.

"It might not be the best 11 but I will soon find out. I will try and give them all a chance but whoever I pick, I have made it perfectly clear to them today that they go out and play with some pride, passion and effort, and they are determined to work hard and get Wrexham out of the situation they are in."

But Saunders has been assured by chairman Geoff Moss he can add to the squad, although he might have to wait until the new year.

"The chairman has persuaded me that my hands won't be tied, I will be able to do something although we might have to wait until January," said Saunders.

"But I will be getting players into this club that want to win. When they pull the shirt on they should be proud to be playing for Wrexham."

Saunders is aware that predecessor Brian Little won few friends won few friends his long ball style of football and he is hoping supporters will be entertained during his reign.

"It is a massive club and 16,000 supporters have disappeared," he added.
"My job is to get them back in the ground. I understand the football's not been as attractive as it could have been, that's for various reasons.

"I have got a way of playing and I want us to score goals. So when you come to watch Wrexham play I want the team to try and score goals and win matches, so people go home thinking they will come back next week. Not hopefully, I will do it!"

Saunders will be assisted by Brian Carey and Joey Jones after caretaker boss Martin Foyle was shown the door.

But Saunders, wanting to make further changes to his backroom staff, is looking to bring in fresh faces.

"I will be speaking to a few people," added Saunders. "Obviously they have got to be people I trust and people who think along the lines I think.

"It is quite straight forward and the people I do bring in will be thinking on the same lines as me, and they will have the same determination as I will."
