Early bird deal still available for Wrexham fans
WREXHAM are hoping they will close in on last year's season ticket sales before the start of the new campaign.
The club attracted more than 1,500 season ticket holders last season and so far around 300 fans have taken advantage of the early bird offer which runs out on June 30.
Early bird season ticket prices have been introduced to tempt supporters to back Wrexham who will be looking to win promotion from the Blue Square Premier at the first attempt.
And Wrexham football secretary, Geraint Parry, said fans taking advantage of the offer will also be helping to boost finances for Reds' boss Brian Little as he looks to build a squad that will challenge for honours when the new season kicks-off.
"We had around 1,600 season ticket holders last season but that was a big year," said Parry today.
"We are doing okay so far and have probably sold around 300 but there is still a week to the first cut off.
"Fans have stuck with the club which is fantastic and it would be nice to approach last season's figure again.
"Obviously, people will be disappointed after last year's relegation.
"It was a big disappointment to get over but as things start to progress over the summer, and we get nearer to the start of the new season, it is looking encouraging.
"Season ticket money also helps firm up the manager's budget.
"If the club has the promise of that money, it gives Brian Little a bit more freedom and an opportunity to bring in an extra player or two."
Supporters will also be able be able to watch Wrexham from all four sides of the Racecourse Ground next term.
The Eric Roberts Stand has been given back to home fans and under the discounted early bird rate, fans would pay £230 for a season ticket in that part of the ground which works out at £10 a game. The price of a season ticket in that stand will go up to £260 after June 30.
In another new initiative launched by the club, fans aged under seven with an adult season ticket holder will qualify for a free season ticket of their own.
And Parry insists Wrexham's season ticket prices are favourable when compared with their Blue Square Premier rivals.
"There is a reward to buy early," said Parry.
"The early bird prices are very favourable and fans have got until June 30 to take advantage of those.
"There are always people who leave it until the last week and the new fixtures coming out is always a boost, but unfortunately ours are not out until July this year.
"Prices are very favourable compared to the some of the other big clubs in the division such as Oxford.
"Having a season ticket saves messing around on match day and you have already booked your seat in advance."
Parry also spoke of the goodwill gestures from some supporters who have already secured their passes for the new season.
"Some people have actually paid the full price even though they could have had season tickets at early bird rate and that has been nice," added Parry.
"They have said they wanted the club to have the remainder and that is brilliant."
Little was thwarted in his attempts to bring in a fifth new signing of the summer at the weekend but he hopes to conclude a deal for a player this week.
