I want to stay at Werexham FC says Williamson

SAM WILLIAMSON today admitted he does not see joining Wrexham as a backwards step in his career.
The Manchester City left-back has joined Wrexham on loan until January with a view to a permanent transfer.
The 21-year-old made his Premiership debut as a second half substitute for City against Portsmouth last season but has slipped down the pecking order under Mark Hughes.
And Williamson is more than happy to revive his career at Wrexham, who he hopes to sign for permanently in the New Year.
"It is a good opportunity to play regular football," said Williamson today.
"I have been playing for City reserves but this will be better.
"Chances have been limited at City. I played once last season and went away pre-season but only train with the first team now again so it is best to go out on loan.
"Hopefully I will do well and everything goes okay I would like to sign permanently.
"I thought when I was a youngster that if the day came that I had to leave City then it would be difficult to handle but it is not.
"The facilities are good here, it is a good club and I don't see it as a major step down. This is a new start for me."
Williamson, whose preferred position is left-back but can also operate in a left-midfield role, recently had a spell training with Wrexham cut short because of injury, but he was impressed with manager Dean Saunders during his time with the Reds.
"I came here a few weeks ago to see if I liked it but then I got injured and had to go back," said Williamson.
"But I trained last week because the manager wanted me to come back and that was great.
"Dean is hands on and is not just a manager but a coach as well."
Williamson, a runner-up in the FA Youth Cup final with City two years ago, is hoping to be part of a Wrexham side that will challenge for promotion.
"I am excited about coming to Wrexham," added Williamson. "They have been on a good run so hopefully I can help Wrexham get promoted.
"I'm looking forward to being here and playing first team football.
"Hopefully I can play my part in a successful season."
Saunders has also completed the loan signing of Liverpool midfielder Ryan Flynn who has also joined until January.
The 20-year-old centre-midfielder has come through the ranks at Anfield for whom he is under contract until 2010.
And although Edinburgh-born Flynn, a member of Liverpool's FA Youth Cup winning team who beat Williamson's City in the final, won't feature tomorrow at Stevenage, he is looking forward to his temporary stay at Wrexham.
"I have come here for first team football and it is nice that someone wants me to play for them," said Flynn.
"I want to play as many games as I can.
"Wrexham were on a good run until the slip-up last week but I am sure they will bounce back and get on another run."
"I have had a knock but I will settle in and then be ready to go."
Saunders was pleased with the capture of Flynn, and said: "Ryan is a good player, a really good footballer, and I am delighted to get him."
"I am trying to improve things all the time and Liverpool have done us a big favour here.
"Ryan has not played for two weeks because of a knock so we won't play tomorrow but he will be available for the Northwich game on Wednesday."
