MIKE CARVILL today revealed there has been interest in him from Football League and Scottish clubs.
Northern Ireland under 21 international Carvill has not been not offered a new contract by Wrexham manager Brian Little who is making sweeping changes at The Racecourse following the Reds' relegation from the Football League.

Although nothing definite has emerged, the 20-year-old winger hopes to continue his career at a high level and is pleased there has been interest shown in him.

"There are a few things in the pipeline but I have not signed anything yet," said Carvill today.

"There has been interest from League Two and the SPL which is a bit different – I have always had connections in Scotland – as well as back home in the Northern Irish Premier League, but nothing is permanent.

"It is positive news for me and I hope to get something sorted before the start of the season, and get back into it.

"It is good to hear that people are aware of me and I would like to stay in the Football League. You want to play at a high level for as long as possible."

In no hurry to conclude a deal, Belfast-born Carvill – also capable of playing in attack – has belief in his own ability and is not concerned about his future.

"We'll have to see what happens," he said. "It is only May and a lot of managers are on holiday.

"I am in no rush and I will go over the possibilities, and see what will suit me the best.

"Only time will tell where I end up.

"I have never worried about my career and I am confident I will be okay.

"I have got faith in my own ability, I have never doubted that."

Carvill was Brian Carey's first permanent signing for the club after being released by Charlton Athletic in January 2007 having seen injury hamper his progress at the Valley where he came through the ranks without making a first team appearance.

But Carvill, Northern Ireland's record goalscorer at under 17 level, was one of 22 players told by current Reds' boss Brian Little that they have no future at The Racecourse.

Although disappointed to sever ties with the Reds, Carvill holds no grudges: "I was disappointed to be released,"he said. "But looking back, I have played in League Two – it just did not work out at Wrexham.

"Releasing so many players showed the manager's intentions. He wants to bring in his own players and stamp his own mark on the squad.

"Players like Danny Williams and Neil Roberts were released, not just younger players, so it shows no-one is safe.

"That's football. I have not shed any tears and it is time to move on.
"I really hope Wrexham come straight back up and wish the club all the best."

Having been restricted to just one league start in the 2006-07 campaign after joining Wrexham, together with a handful of substitute
appearances, Carvill scored his first and only Reds' goal in the 2-1 FAW Premier Cup quarter-final defeat against Newport County.

He went on to make five league starts last term as well as a couple of appearances from the bench, but he was disappointed not to have been given more opportunties in the Reds' first team.

"I would have liked more of a chance, and I think I deserved it," added Carvill.

"But it was hard. A new manager came in half way through the season and I found myself in and out.

"But I never came off the pitch feeling disappointed in the way I played.

"I gave it my all and there are no regrets."
