Wrexham make their first trip in the Blue Square Premier tomorrow when they face York City at The Kit Kat Crescent in tomorrow's televised clash.
Brian Little takes his side to York on the back of an opening day 5-0 home victory at the weekend, with five different scorers getting on the scoresheet for the Reds.
And although he acknowledges that York will be difficult opponents, midfielder Kearney has only one outcome on his mind: "It's an away game that we are going to try and win," he said today.
"It will be a physical battle and York will be a tough place to go to so we need to set our stall out. We've got to go there and be at it from the start.
"York want to be up there challenging and it will not be easy.
"But these are the type of places we have to go and grind out results, and be hard to beat.
"We are looking to win every game – we can't be scared of anyone – and we are capable of winning at York.
"So that is what we will be desperately trying to do."
Kearney, a summer signing from Halifax Town, paid tribute to the supporters who saw Wrexham's win against Stevenage, with the near-5,000 attendance the best in the division.
"The fans will play their part this season," added Kearney. "More than 4,900 for the first game is fantastic and gave us a huge lift.
"We know we did not play the best, but if we can have that support week in, week out, it will be big bonus.
"We're likely to have the highest attendance in the league and the incentive is to try and get promotion for the fans after what they've gone through.
"No-one wants the club to be in this position but the fans were brilliant on Saturday, and long may it continue."
Handed the captain's armband by Little, former Everton trainee Kearney says he is honoured to be asked to lead the Reds out.
"I'm delighted," said Kearney. "The gaffer gave me a taste of it at Stafford Rangers in pre-season and then made me captain for the season.
"It's good to know the gaffer thinks of me as a leader and I am looking forward to the challenge.
"Coming into a new club I just tried to establish myself in the team. I had a good pre-season and I feel fit.
"Being captain is a bonus and a compliment.
"But we need 11 captains on the pitch. It is about the team and Wrexham getting promotion because that's the most important thing."
Little is forced to make at least one change for the trip to York.
Levi Mackin was harshly shown two yellow cards against Stevenage and serves a one-match ban tomorrow, meaning Kearney will have a new partner in the centre of midfield.
"Levi was desperately unlucky but it is part and parcel of football," added Kearney.
"Whether it is because of suspension or change, places in the team are up for grabs. It is all about pushing each other and whoever comes in has to do a job and stake their claim.
"It is unfortunate for Levi as he had a good pre-season but I'm sure he will get his chance again."
One player in contention to replace Mackin is Christian Smith, a free agent who has joined Wrexham on a short term deal until the end of the month.
Smith, released by Clyde at the end of last season, made a second half substitute appearance against Stevenage and scored the fourth goal.
And Little was delighted that the introduction of Smith and another sub Marc Williams, who rounded off the scoring, had paid dividends.
"It was one of those days where it works for you. I have had days where it doesn't," said Little.
"Marc has been scoring a goal or two and that's why he was on the bench. He deserved to be with his run of form.
"I don't think it was a gamble putting Christian on the bench, I've liked what I have seen and been pleased with his contribution.
"When a substitute scores, people's natural reaction is that he should have started.
"But picking a team is based on everything I have at my disposal, such as a players' mentality, not just the last ten minutes."
- Goalkeeper Chris Maxwell is joining Welsh Premier League outfit GAP Connah's Quay on loan.
The 18-year-old, handed a first professional contract in the summer by Little, will join Nomads on loan until the New Year to gain first team experience.
- Wrexham Reserves ran out 3-0 winners in their away match with an Everton XI last night.
Wes Baynes, an unused substitute against Stevenage, helped himself to a hat-trick, while The Reds also missed a penalty.
